Pvt. Lanny Dale Shields operates the buffer while Pvt. Jeff E. Fenn sits on it.  Shields is from Ohio County Kentucky. Pvt. Raymond Allen Sletten Pvt. Lanny Dale Shields buffs the floor while Pvt. J.E. Fenn adds weight to the unit.  It was believed that the buffer would work better with more weight on the unit.

Pvt. Lanny Dale Shields buffs the floor while Pvt. J.E. Fenn adds weight to the unit.  It was believed that the buffer would work better with more weight on the unit. Bill Hansell Pfc. Hodges going out on liberty.

My bunk. Packing the truck and saying our goodbyes.  Lcpl. Dan park's truck is a Toyota SR5 4x4 and can be seen in the lower corner.  To the left is the guardshack, to the right is the Armory.  Marine in Foreground is the Corporal of the Guard. One last look at the old worthless barracs before departure.  This was written just after I left.  The buildings were very old and in poor repair, but they did serve their purpose. Basically, they formed an 'H' or a 'U', the outside being sleeping quarters and the middle area was shared bathrooms.

Private Jeff E. Fenn of Galveston, Texas walks his sentry post in a military manner.  Fenn went to Camp Pendleton after graduation. Graduation Day, graduation ceremony held in the classroom.  Seal on podium is new and was made by Cpl. Randolph Rowland and Sgt. Bynum.  The Board Reads:

Pvt. Willis who is going to Iwokuni japan after his class graduates.  He was a basic supply man ( MOS 3051 ).  He bought my 'purple rain' casette and could not pay me.  I told him that it was now a gift.

Lance Corporal Shifflett helps to get allt he gear to the classroom before graduation.  The suitcase belongs to K.D. Caldwell. The last night in the barracs.  Pvt. Raymond A. Sletten is in blue and Pvt. Jeff E. Fenn is in cammies walking firewatch. Jeff Fenn just took this photo of me.  Notice the headphones.  Everybody had a portable player and traded cassettes regularly.  Occasionally people would play boom boxes in the squadbay.  During this period ZZTop was really big and the song 'legs' always reminds me of this period.
